The performance indicators of the maritime and land transport sectors increased during the fourth quarter of last year compared to the same period in 2023, while air transport indicators showed a decline during the same period, according to the summary of the Transport Sector Performance Indicators report for the fourth quarter of last year, prepared by the Ministry of Transport.
The total number of aircraft arriving and departing to and from all airports in the Kingdom was 18,261 planes in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 19,077 planes in the fourth quarter of 2023, showing a 4% decrease.
The total number of passengers arriving and departing to and from all airports in the Kingdom reached 2,046,268 passengers during the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 1,997,543 passengers in the fourth quarter of 2023, showing a 5% decrease.
Maritime Transport
The total cargo handling through all port facilities in Aqaba reached 6,006,288 tons in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 5,547,420 tons in the fourth quarter of 2023, showing an 8% increase.
The total number of containers handled at Aqaba Container Port was 225,069 containers in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 214,652 containers in the fourth quarter of 2023, showing a 5% increase.
The number of ships that arrived at Aqaba Port reached 354 ships in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 326 ships in the fourth quarter of 2023, showing a 9% increase.
The number of passengers passing through the passenger port reached 51,186 passengers in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 40,815 passengers in the fourth quarter of 2023, showing a 25% increase.
Land Transport
The total number of passengers passing through all land border crossings was 2,135,825 passengers in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 1,676,561 passengers in the fourth quarter of 2023, showing a 27% increase.
The total cargo movement reached 15,173,023 tons, compared to 7,931,450 tons, showing a 91% increase.
The total volume of exported goods reached 10,632,382 tons in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 3,410,215 tons in the fourth quarter of 2023, showing an increase of more than 100%.
